Fire Suppression Cylinder Refilling & Recharge

Control Fire Systems is Canada's only ULC-listed facility authorised for both first-fill and recharge of clean agent fire suppression cylinders. With over 45 years of experience, we provide certified refilling for all major clean agents - including 3M Novec 1230, FM-200, FK-5-1-12, CO2, FE-36, Halotron, and Halon 1301 - serving commercial, industrial, and marine facilities across Canada.

We are also a Transport Canada Approved H-Testing facility and an authorised Kidde Systems Distributor. All clean agents we work with are tested and certified to NFPA 2001 standards, with a certificate provided for every batch.

Whether you need emergency recharge, scheduled maintenance, or a first fill on a new system, our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Cylinder Refilling Services

3M Novec 1230 Cylinder Refilling

3M Novec 1230 is one of the most efficient and environmentally responsible clean agents available. It has zero ozone depletion potential and carries the 3M Blue Sky Warranty. Control Fire Systems is an authorised ULC-listed dealer for 3M Novec 1230, offering both first-fill and recharge services.

FK-5-1-12 Cylinder Refilling

FK-5-1-12 is an effective alternative to 3M Novec 1230 with zero ozone-depleting potential. Like Novec, it is non-conductive and non-corrosive, making it ideal for protecting sensitive electronic equipment and server environments. Control Fire Systems stocks FK-5-1-12 and Fluoro-K drop-in replacement agents.

FM-200 (HFC-227ea) Cylinder Refilling

FM-200 achieves extinguishing concentration in 10 seconds or less, with no residue left behind. It is safe for use in occupied spaces and one of the most widely deployed clean agents in data centres, telecommunications facilities, and control rooms. We are an authorised dealer for FM-200 first-fill and recharge.

CO2 Cylinder Refilling

Carbon dioxide is a proven clean agent that extinguishes fire by displacing oxygen and cooling the fuel source. CO2 cylinders require a hydrostatic test every five years. Control Fire Systems provides full CO2 service including inspection, hydro-testing, and refilling.

FE-36 Cylinder Refilling

FE-36 is a colourless, odourless, and non-conductive clean agent widely used in local application systems and portable extinguishers. It is an accepted replacement for Halon, with zero ozone depletion potential and a lower toxicity profile.

Halotron Cylinder Refilling

Halotron has been used successfully for decades to protect assets across commercial offices, data centres, aircraft, marine vessels, and industrial plants. Among halocarbon agents, it has the lowest environmental impact. We offer full Halotron refilling and inspection services.

Halon 1301 Cylinder Refilling & Recycling

Control Fire Systems is the only Halon 1301 reclaim and recycling centre in Canada. We hold active contracts with the military and the airline industry, and our US partner is Wesco. As a ULC-listed Halon 1301 facility, we purchase decommissioned Halon systems and retrofit them with environmentally responsible alternatives.

What is the difference between first-fill and recharge?
First-fill refers to charging a brand-new cylinder with clean agent for the first time. Recharge (or refill) refers to repressurising and refilling a cylinder that has already been deployed or has lost pressure. Control Fire Systems is authorised by ULC for both - the only facility in Canada with this dual status.
How long does a cylinder refill take?
Turnaround time depends on the agent type, cylinder size, and whether H-testing is required. In most cases, standard refills are completed within 1-3 business days. Emergency recharge is available 24/7 for urgent situations.
Do you service cylinders from other manufacturers?
Yes. We service cylinders from all major brands including Kidde, Chemetron, Fenwal, Sevo Systems, Ansul Sapphire, FireFlex, Fike, Minimax, FireTrace, Pyro-Chem, Siemens, Sea-Fire, Ginge-Kerr, and Janus Systems.
How often do CO2 cylinders need to be tested?
CO2 cylinders are required to undergo hydrostatic (hydro) testing every five years. Control Fire Systems is a Transport Canada Approved H-Testing facility, so we handle this in-house as part of our full CO2 service.
Can you refill Halon 1301 cylinders?
Yes. Control Fire Systems is the only Halon 1301 reclaim and recycling centre in Canada. We work with the military and aviation industry and can purchase decommissioned Halon systems and replace them with modern, environmentally responsible alternatives.
Are your clean agents tested to NFPA standards?
Yes. All clean agents - recycled and newly manufactured - are tested and certified to the quality standards set out in NFPA 2001, 2022 edition, Section 5.1.2. We provide a batch certificate with every refill.
Do you offer emergency refilling?
Yes. Our emergency line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1-866-525-8514 to reach our team at any time.
Can I drop off cylinders at your facility?
Yes. You can bring cylinders directly to our Toronto facility at 63 Advance Rd., Toronto, Ontario, M8Z 2S6. We can also dispatch a technician to your site if you prefer on-site service.
Do you buy surplus clean agents?
Yes. If you have a clean agent you no longer need, Control Fire Systems can purchase it from you. We ensure proper storage, utilisation, and recycling in compliance with environmental regulations.
What is the 3M Blue Sky Warranty and does it apply to your refills?
The 3M Blue Sky Warranty is a product warranty offered by 3M for Novec 1230 clean agent. As an authorised ULC-listed dealer for 3M Novec 1230, Control Fire Systems refills are covered under this warranty program.
